Best Dressed: The Top Rule Breakers of 2009
Of the many variations of best dressed models listed in Modelinia; I loved the Rule Breakers. This group closely depicts my personal style and keeps it rockin'. Thanks Modelinia for such a well edited tribute to this past years style makers. A great way to end 2009.

And they call this fat
Lara Stone is a size 4/6 u.s.
I will be the first to admit, I love gamine look. But then I've also always loved the look of Stephanie Seymour. It's not so much about the size but how the woman wears it. To think that there is one particular code of beauty, especially as our world grows more globally connected is ridiculous. That's the beauty of beauty; it evolves, and our eye is constantly readjusting to a new form.

An Homage
Net a Porter has created a terrific little homage film to the LBD......counting down the 10 most iconic LBD looks of all time. I thoroughly enjoyed it; beautifully curated. It's a great way to spend a few minutes. It makes you want to get dressed. Although I have had a few LBD moments, I don't think I've had 'the night with the dress' so until that time.....

History of Models: Supermodels Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, & Kate Moss
History of Models: Supermodels Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, & Kate Moss
A great short video on the sup's. Their rise and fall follwed by the take over of Kate.
Model Kate Moss' Seven Days of Style
Model Kate Moss' Seven Days of Style
If you somehow missed the slide show of Kate Moss at the top of my blog.... I am saying it now.... Kate is a favorite. Yes, she is generally regarded as a style icon and in liking her I am not alone. I often use her as a reference; I like how she pushes the envelope and shows us whats new or next, first. We are similar in our love for adding a bit of edge to any look and in our ability to mix high/low. I also feel her need to add a bit of dishabille to every look I inhabit - I am never comfortable carrying off the look of everything-in-its-place-perfection.
Besides the seven days of style link, I would urge you to check out the link below. It has a great Kate-thru-the years slideshow.

Shanghai'd and loving it.....
I am so in love with the Shanghai collection Karl did for Chanel. I die! Seriously, I die! The eastern nuances, the rock vibe, the sheerness and embroidery all so expertly crafted. The sumptuousness of layered cuffs and the leather appliqued pants. And the colors; dark and exotic. I want every piece. I know everyone was head-over-heels for his spring collection, but this collection, for me, is perfection.

Model Maker Meisel
Meisel - LOVE
Mag Cover - Models ONLY - LOVE.......
Steven Meisel the modern day godfather of major models created an amazing cover for Italian Vogue.
******Article information below taken from Modelinia******
Though some magazines from the New Year have already made their way to model fans around the world, we have one last December issue to flip through, and the cover is kind of epic.
Vogue Italia brought together a few major names for their last magazine of 2009. Steven Meisel directed Lara Stone, Gisele Bündchen, Natalia Vodianova, Christy Turlington, and Kasia Struss to snap images for the cover. Meisel, no stranger to bridging high fashion with widespread trends, seems inspired by the Twitter-obsessed world. The cover’s TwitPic happy, encapsulating the generation’s fiendish consumption of social media. It’s also Kasia’s first cover of Vogue Italia!

My Ulitmate Shopping Companion - Coco Chanel
Most of Portland knows her.
She considers Nordstrom and Mario's her second home.
Featured in the Nordstrom employee slideshow during the new Chanel boutique launch.
So popular; people often say hello to her before they acknowledge me.
Rarely without her, especially while shopping. Coco, my French Bulldog, is the consummate shopper. Now 4 years old, Coco has been shopping with me since she was 10 weeks old. Seen sitting on the tweed chairs in Chanel, browsing the designer shoe look books, or riding the escalator to the Second level Collections department in Nordstrom, Coco has it down.
Das Boot
Ode to the Ankle Boot
Oh, how I love thee.
Worn in a multitude of ways, with a mini dress, leggings, or skinny jeans. These multi-purpose boots can transform a look, elevating it from ordinary to POW! One of my go to looks is leggings, a draping top and ankle boots. The boots above are some of my favorite offerings for the season. Most are available at Barneys.com; the looks above run the gamut from high to low - Dior to Dolce Vita. Ladylike from Dior, punk from Dolce Vita and Pirate King from Givenchy. I love how the Givenchy boots rock a certain Peter Pan flair. This post goes out to all girls who, like me, dream of being Peter Pan and NOT Wendy

Superbowl Time!!
The annual Victoria's Secret fashion show is something I wait all year for. I often refer to it as my Super Bowl. It's has long been my dream to stomp down that runway with the rest of them. With only weeks until the 2009 show, I am anticipating another great show. It has been reported that neither Heidi Klum or Alessandra Ambrosio will be walking in this years show. Both out with impending pregnancies. Supposedly Heidi will be hosting the show. I will miss each of them; their unique energy and beauty. It will be exciting to see the new girls this year, including the national model search winner. Watch last years show in it's entirety on YouTube.

Olivier Theyskens
Why the owners of Nina Ricci ever let Olivier go is beyond me. Theyskens brought back a struggling Parisian brand creating both editorial and commercial looks - this balance considered the required recipe for a successful design house. Who can forget his first golden look followed by other noteworthy collaborations with Reese Witherspoon? It has yet to be announced which direction Theyskens will take; a personal collection? A new design house? Whichever, until he returns the runways will be mourning his departure.
Be sure and click on the link above to check out Style.com's review and comments on Theyskens last collection at Nina Ricci.
Hurry back soon Olivier, we all miss you!!

marcher la tête haute!!
NINE!
[From Left]: Judi Dench, Marion Cotillard, Kate Hudson, Fergie, Nicole Kidman, Penélope Cruz, and Sophia Loren, at London's Shepperton Studios.
Some of my favorite movies are muscials; including Moulin Rouge and The Sound of Music. That's why I am so excited to see the upcoming film, Nine. The cast is phenomenal with some of the best actresses of our time. The fashion alone makes one head spin, the movie required vast array of costumes from the 20's to the 60's.
Releasing in December, I am greedily anticipating the moment I get to immerse myself in this magical world.
Make sure and visit the link above to go behind the scenes with Nine stars Penélope Cruz, Kate Hudson, Nicole Kidman, and Marion Cotillard as they shoot the November cover of Vogue with Annie Leibovitz on the beach in California.

Paint it Black
For a fashion house known most recognizably for one hue and a certain aesthetic, the new design duo at Valentino is really starting to shake things up. The team, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli started coming into their own last season with their Fall Couture 2009 collection; I loved the nude adorned stiletto and lace masks.
Their Spring 2010 collection was a study in sheer on sheer, and once again I loved the shoes. I am very excited to see where these two continue to take Valentino; I for one am a new fan.

It pulls designer products from all over the web and condenses them into one easy page. By look, by designer; create your own look. I was running a Givenchy search and the product pull was incredible. Pages of clothing, accessories, shoes, bags and cosmetics, all by Givenchy. It's almost too easy. Jack Frost
David Bowie, here I come!
Gucci: silver sequins all over embroidered georgette v-neck long sleeve mini dress paired with an opaque black stocking and worn with black leather and patent thigh high boot.
Topped off with the necklace in 18kt ruthenium plated silver, white gold and black diamonds.
You could pair the tunic dress with a belt in alligator or throw on a little fur jacket. If I had a day uniform, this would be it.
I know Frida has been criticized as being a bit too commercial; that as a designer she doesn't push the envelope enough; however she consistently turns out looks I want to wear. And I love her for that.

Rock Bunny
I love, love, love the hard/soft combination of this pochette. Everything about it makes me smile. It's fun, irreverant and girly/rock'n'roll; if there could be such a thing. Even the color name, 'Bunny Pink'. I think you had grow up and live in the Grunge era, like Marc did, to really get it.
The Fall collection at Louis Vuitton was one of my absolute favorites, I would wear almost every piece in the collection (sampling enclosed).
